Socket bayonet made by Collins & Company of Collinsville, Connecticut. This bayonet was intended for use with the Sharps “New Model” rifles.
This example is in very fine condition. The metal surfaces are a very light gray color overall. Blade measures approximately 18” long and is boldly stamped “US”. Socket measures 3” long and has a small, but strong “C & Co” stamp on top. Locking ring works properly. [jet][ph:L]
