Henry Sauerbier Model 1850 foot officer sword with a sharkskin grip, Twisted wire wrap. The blade is bright with an unstopped fuller and a secondary fuller. It has great blade etching with a full 7 inch battle scene of charging infantry led by two mounted officers - one shot and falling from his horse. The Confederate side shows a fence line, a wounded enlisted man on the ground and a mounted officer. there is also a large eagle with E Pluribus Unum and scroll work. The reverse side has an American flag with two drums, floral, a U.S. separated by 13 stars and a 3 inch continuation of the battle scene at the fence line of a mounted officer with drawn saber charging the fence line and two infantry men. The scabbard is regulation style, back seamed, black leather with undecorated, wide brass mounts. [ph:L]
