$145.00 ON HOLD

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 490-7181

This gun powder tin is in the shape of a flask, painted orange, and with a small belt loop on the back. Measures 8.5” tall, 4.5” wide. Features the oval Hercules graphic on the front and “HERCULES POWDER CO. U.S.A.” in raised letters on the back side. Tin lid fits tightly over top spout. Light wear to orange paint and graphic, but no dents.

In 1911, the U.S. Circuit Court in Delaware found that Du Pont had been operating an unlawful monopoly, and ordered a breakup of its explosives and gunpowder manufacturing business. The breakup resulted in the creation of two new companies in 1912, Atlas Powder Company and Hercules Powder Company. Atlas received the explosives manufacturing portion of Du Pont’s business, while Hercules got the gunpowder business.

A good tin in unusual flask shape.  [jet][ph:L]
