This cartridge is for the 12mm LeFaucheux revolvers. Lead bullet with pointy nose, copper case with sturdy wire “pin”, no headstamp.
Much of the pinfire ammunition used during the Civil War was manufactured in Europe. Only a limited amount was made in the United States by C.D. Leet, Sharps, and Allen & Wheelock. This specimen was made by C.D. Leet making it a rare pinfire cartridge.
