This attractive and unusual piece is a three-compartment powder flask.
The unadorned body is copper while the top and bottom are of brass. Thumbpiece and spring are complete and in place. The spout is adjustable to allows for three different powder charges. The bottom is fitted with two small, round lids that swing out to uncover interior compartments; one (deep) for pistol balls and the other (shallow) likely for percussion caps or flints. The third compartment that stores the gun powder is located above the shorter compartment.
There is dark discoloration on one side but the overall condition is very good with a nice patina. [jet] [ph:L]
