Rare .44 caliber (54 gauge) cartridge used in the Model 1851 Adams revolver. On October 1, 1852, Robert Adams was awarded a British Patent.

The early style of these Adams cartridges were known as “Dustbin” cartridges because they utilized a copper case to hold the powder.

Offered here is a slightly later version that features a blue paper powder case, that replaced the copper case, which was done as a cost saving measure. These were manufactured by Eley Brothers of London.

Slightly oxidized bullet with wad and powder case secured to the bottom by way of a pin cast on the base of the bullet. A protective outer paper tube, typical of most Eley cartridges, still retains the brown cloth tear strip. A round label is pasted to the bottom, “ELEY / LONDON”. All in fine condition.  [jet][ph:jet]

UPS shipping required.
