MARTIALLY MARKED REMINGTON NEW MODEL ARMY REVOLVER WITH CARVED INITIALS

$1,450.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2021-1207

Remington New Model Army revolver in good overall condition. These revolvers were in production from 1863 to 1875 and the New Model Army became the strongest competitor against the Colt Model 1860 revolver during that time. The Federal government acquired a total of some 122,000 such New Model revolvers for military use.

This sidearm is an original .44 caliber weapon with a 6-shot round cylinder that has replaced nipples and has been re-blued.

Octagon barrel is 8.00 inches long and still shows about 60% of its original blue as does the working loading lever. Barrel has the blade front sight and has a readable maker’s mark. Bore is pitted throughout although the rifling is good. Bottom of the barrel is stamped with serial number 75642 which matches the number under the grips.

As stated above the 6-shot cylinder has been re-blued and has replaced nipples but the sub-inspector marks are still visible. Action is strong and works properly. Frame has browned some. Screwheads are very good.

Wood grips are very nice with a strong inspector’s cartouche on the left side and the initials “JK” carved in the right side and bottom.  [ad][ph:L]
