Presented here is a M1854, 12mm Lefaucheux pinfire revolver.

This style of handgun was designed and produced by the highly-acclaimed inventor of European firearms, Eugene Lefaucheux. Referred to as the Model 1854, the Lefaucheux revolver is a single action, standard military caliber arm produced at his licensed production facilities at Liege, Belgium.

In very good overall condition, the pinfire revolver measures approximately 12” long overall with a six-shot cylinder matched to a 6.25” long, round barrel. Revolver is a 12mm (approximately .44 caliber) model with a plain cylinder with the six safety cams and the six pin slots. The cylinder is stamped with “E / LG / *” in an oval. Most other metal parts also bear sub-inspector marks consisting of various letters with a crown. Serial number “34936” is stamped on the right side where frame meets barrel. The maker’s mark visible on the left facet of barrel reads, “E. LEFAUCHEUX / INVR BREVETE". Bore is clear, although slightly dusty, with sharp rifling. Tall, morticed front sight remains in place at the muzzle. The iron trigger guard fits the frame tightly and exhibits the distinctive finger spur. Gun metal shows original blue in places (especially on cylinder) and some case colors amid a general plum tone overall.

Mechanics are strong and crisp. The cylinder indexes very well. Loading gate is intact and functional. And a true rarity, the ejector rod is original.

Grips are two-piece black walnut in good condition with smooth even wear and no cracking or chipping. Butt plate retains the metal lanyard ring.

A nice pinfire revolver in large caliber.  [jet][ph:L]
