Offered here is a fine Tranter-style .38 caliber rimfire English “House Defense” revolver.
Measuring 9” overall, with a 4.25” octagonal blued barrel. Top flat of frame over the cylinder is engraved “LULLMAN & VIENNA MEMPHIS” within a scroll. These were the agents selling these guns. Five-shot cylinder with Birmingham proof marks. Proof marks are on many of the components, otherwise this has no specific maker’s marks. Loading gate is on right side of cylinder and remains in fine, working condition. Also on the right side is the compound leaver ejector. This is a double-action revolver and remains in mechanically fine working order. Two-piece, checkered walnut grips have a very slight wobble.
This revolver shows light wear overall. A fine early rimfire revolver, being a Tranter-like copy from England.
J.C. Lullman and A.J. Vienna sold general merchandise and arms in Memphis from the late 1850s to 1876. [jet][ph:L]
