This is a 12-pounder iron cannonball. Hole for Bormann type fuse but with no fuse or under plug.  An original but unrelated fuse is included. Iron is in good condition with much of the original black paint remaining on the outer surface.  Shell is empty.

This was acquired from the 2014 auction of the contents of the Soldiers National Museum in Gettysburg. This museum opened in the 1950s and operated for many years as the Charley Weaver Museum of the Civil War. “Charley Weaver,” an elderly rural character that actor Cliff Arquette created, appeared on many television shows through the mid-1970s.   [jet] [ph:L]
