This view was taken with the camera positioned in the open fields west of the Emmitsburg Road near the lane leading to the Rose Farm. The camera is looking northeast up the Emmitsburg Road with the Peach Orchard on a rise in the distance. Several monuments are visible as is the Sherfy Farm.
Contrast is a bit light but the clarity is good. Paper and mount have scattered light to moderate surface dirt. Mount edges have several chips. Borders bear Tipton’s mark.
Reverse has Tipton’s imprint and advertising.
This is a view of the Peach Orchard not often seen and gives a good look at some of the ground traversed by Kershaw’s Brigade in their assaults of July 2, 1863. [ad] [ph:L]
