Here is a nice “dug” button from Gettysburg. It is a New Hampshire state seal coat button, 15mm. Pretty face with plenty of gilt in recessed areas. Straight shank, with no backmark.
Recovered at the of the Union 3rd Corps Field Hospital by Dean Thomas.
The 3rd Corps set up their hospital on a portion of the Jacob Schwartz Farm near White Run. This was near and somewhat intermingled with the 2nd Corps Hospital. The 3rd Corps Hospital grew to hold over 2500 wounded Union and Confederate soldiers. [jet] [PH:L]
