This Federal eagle breast plate is of the regulation 1826 pattern. Plate measures a diameter of 63mm and is in very good excavated condition. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face has a spread-winged eagle holding three arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other.  Face is well preserved with good detail. Surface has a brown patina with lead oxidation covering the rim. Lead filled back retains 100% of lead fill. No maker’s markings. Both iron hooks remain in very strong condition.

Recovered long ago on Little Round Top by local Gettysburg resident Al Flickinger.   [jet]
