This image is mounted to a gray card and features 13 veterans standing before the First Artillery Shot/General Buford Monument on McPherson’s Ridge. One man wears a Grand Army of the Republic badge, while the rest wear customary Grand Army of the Republic uniforms and lapel pins. Featured at upper left is an oval portrait, doubtless of an old commander.
The card itself shows a good deal of wear, but the image only shows relatively minor damage at upper right and staining along the left edge. The reverse shows water damage, with the heaviest areas of saturation suffering from cracks. Creatively matted and framed, this image would display nicely. A negative catalogue number at low right reads “10519”. Dimensions are 8” x 10.1”.
