This hardware grouping corresponded to a Pattern 1855 Rifleman’s Belt, adopted prior to the Civil War for issuance to rifle-equipped regular US infantry and in select use through the Civil War.

Though one piece of the buckle is a bit bent, the assembly is complete and includes both brass weight-distribution loops.  Famed relic hunter and collector Ken Bream recovered these items along Marsh Creek near the former site of the Crawford Farm (near present day Plank and Scott Roads toward Sachs Bridge). This item was purchased from the Bream auction of Gettysburg relics in 2021.

One of the more interesting varieties of Civil War belt fixtures and a genuine Gettysburg artifact with respected provenance.  [cm][ph:L]
