A very interesting specimen of a “bullet in wood”. This is a large piece of wood and measures approximately 11.5” tall, 8” wide, and 4” thick. The bullet is located toward the top of this piece.
The three grooves are visible as this is typical 3-groove minie ball. It is securely embedded in the wood. The bullet was exposed by a few cuts and some carving.
The piece was heavily coated with varnish and the wood remains solid and stable. [jet][ph:L]
