INK ID SEATED VIEW OF 77TH NORTH CAROLINA MAJOR WILLIAM S. BRADSHAW

$1,250.00 ON HOLD

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 1138-1335

CDV is of Bradshaw seated and holding his sword in his lap. He wears a medium gray double-breasted frockcoat with matching trousers. The coat has lighter collar and cuffs. Collar displays the single star of a major. Bradshaw also wears his waist belt with shoulder support strap. Unfortunately his hands obscure his belt plate.

Image has excellent clarity and contrast. Paper and mount are good.

Reverse is blank but does have a period ink ID that reads “MAJOR WM S. BRADSHAW, C.S.A.” There is also some collector information in pencil.

Photo is from the collection of the late William A. Turner.

Records show that William S. Bradshaw started service as a captain in the 777th North Carolina also known as the 7th North Carolina Senior Reserves.

The 7th NC Infantry Regiment Senior Reserves was organized Oct. 28, 1864 and mustered into Confederate Service January 23, 1865 per Special Order #18, Adjutant & Inspector General’s Office. It participated in the Carolinas’ Campaign against Gen. Sherman and was included in surrender of Gen Joseph E. Johnston, commanding, Army of Tennessee, at Durham Station, North Carolina, April 26, 1865.  [ad] [ph:L]
