Iron bit with attractive, brass, US rosettes on each side.

Iron surfaces have a dark patina throughout with some light surface rust. There is also some light scattered pitting.

Both guide rings are worn down some.

Brass rosettes show light wear.

On one side of the bit close to the curb chain anchor there is a stamping that reads “ALLEGHENY ARSENAL 1864.”  [ad] [ph:L]
