Made of sheet brass, rolled and stamped. Raised rim with letters “ONG” in the center in an ornately serifed type face. Brass exhibits a mellow, aged tone.
Plate measures 68mm x 41mm.
There was never any lead fill in the back. There are, however, four solder marks where attachment wires once were placed.
Circa 1875 per Campbell and O’Donnell, see plate 593. [jet][ph:L]
