Unusual looking trapezoidal canteen with screwcap top.

The body of the canteen is made of tin and meas. approx. 4.50 inches across the bottom and 5,50 at the upper widest point. It is 7.00 inches tall and 1.00 inch thick, each side has two flat sling keepers similar to those found on Civil War era canteens. Spout is tin with a screw-on cap.

The canteen is covered in a khaki-colored cloth with the sling made out of the same material. At bottom center is a knot with tassels also made of the same material. Cover is all hand sewn.

The body of the canteen is free of dings and dents. The screwcap on the spout is frozen. The cloth cover shows light surface dirt and moderate staining from age and use. There is one small area along the bottom edge where the stitching has split.

Very interesting little item. [ad] [ph:L]
