Item Code: 490-2783

A nice example of the Civil War-era Cavalry shoulder sling designed for use with weapons fitted with sling rings. The sling was to be worn over the left shoulder with its buckle to the back.

This specimen is constructed of a bridle leather belt measuring 2 3/8” wide by approximately 50” in overall length with hardware of a steel swivel and snap-hook device used to attach it to the carbine ring. Also present is a rectangular brass buckle and brass sling tip. The buckle is riveted in place with no stitching.

The sling swivel and hook are in excellent condition. Unmarked and is a variant without the center link.

The condition of the leather is good and supple with moderate finish crazing. The metallic parts are clean and in good order.

This is a nice Civil War cavalry accessory in nice condition.  [jet] [ph:L]
