This Federal belt plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US”. Face shows only small dings and has a nice mellow patina. Lead filled back retains complete lead fill. No maker’s mark. This is the style with brass “arrow” hooks; all three hooks remain.

Plate is attached to a regulation brown buff leather enlistedman’s waist belt. The belt measures approximately 40” long by 1.9” wide. End of belt opposite the plate retains the brass “keeper”. Leather shows no wear.

A fine Civil War waist belt and buckle.   [jet][ph:L]
