Standard issue carbine cartridge box minus the wood block insert.
Outer flap has surface crazing throughout with some light flaking along the edges. Latch tab is broken but is attached by a rivet and arched stitching.
Inner flap is in excellent condition with both ears and a good-sized marker’s mark in an oval that reads “DINGEE & LORIGAN MAKERS NEW YORK.” Cartridge boxes bearing this maker’s mark were produced between May 18, 1864 to June 1865.
Implement pocket is in good shape as is the body of the box. Both roller buckles are present on bottom as is the brass finial.
Both belt loops are present on the reverse and are in good condition. [ad] [ph:L]
