Original pistol cartridge box with clean leather and tight seams to hold Navy size (.36 cal.) cartridge packs. Likely unissued.
Outer flap remains supple. Light crazing overall. A script "US" stamp below a "T.J. Sheppard" inspection stamp at center of flap. Latch tab is complete and held in place with stitching and a rivet. It is complete and unbroken, but with some loss of finish.
The interior of the box is good, with some loss of finish at top, right corner. The back has both belt loops which are stitched and riveted. Brass finial is present on bottom. Displayable condition. From the Texas Civil War Museum collection. [jet] [ph:L]
