This is a black leather holster made for revolvers. The leather still shows the “profile” of a revolver cylinder and barrel. A .31 caliber “pocket” model with long barrel fits into this although the muzzle does not reach to the end.

The holster “pocket” measures 11” along its front edge. Holster is made of a single piece of black bridle leather with a belt loop riveted to the back. The leather closing tab remains complete and unbroken. The associated finial is copper and remains tightly attached.

Belt loop is approximately 1” wide and is attached by two rivets on each end. The leather plug that originally closed the end of the holster is long gone. There are no makers stamps.

In overall very good condition, this holster shows use. Entire leather body shows crazing but only minor loss of the surface finish. This is a good, military-style flap holster that would accommodate a Civil War revolver.  [jet] [ph:L]
