Woman’s white waist or blouse from the Texas Civil War Museum, made with a round neckline, long sleeves, and a back opening. The front of the waist is accented with 16 tiny tucks of graduated lengths arranged in a V-Shaped design. White work embroidery in a design of leaves and open oval eyelets sits below the tucks. The long sleeves are lightly-gathered above the elbow, with a band of fine lace insertion separating the upper sleeve from a close-fitting lower sleeve. The sleeve is hemmed at the wrist with hand-worked faggoting. The back of the waist has two groups of four narrow tucks on either side of the opening. The waist closes with nine ¼" shell buttons and hand-worked buttonholes.
Measurements: Bust = 39". Width at hem = 54". Length = 20". Sleeve Length = 25". Condition: Fair to good: Some light staining at neckline; one 1" tear below neckline on front; one neatly-repaired tear on upper left shoulder on the back. [cs][ph:L]
