A fashionable straw hat with a dashing appearance from the Texas Civil War Museum. The hat is styled with a tall conical brim made from fine light brown straw. The wide brim is made from a wide straw plait and is curled along the edge. A band of bias-cut plaid silk in shades of red, yellow, and brown surrounds the bottom of the crown, with a large cluster of dark red and bright yellow feathers accents the left side of the crown. Inside the crown is a tan vinyl hat band, and a label for “Trafford” with logos of a phoenix and a lion’s head. A thin elastic cord to hold the hat in place is still attached.

Overall measurements: 13" long front to back, 11" side to side.  Crown 6 ½ " front to back, 5" side to side, 5” high. Top of crown 3.5" x 3". Brim 3” wide.
