The Great Central Fair was a monumental fundraising event for the US Sanitary Commission held in Philadelphia’s Logan Square Park from June 7 – 28, 1864. The massive main building spanned 200,000 square feet and in attendance were President Lincoln and his family, who donated signed copies of the Emancipation Proclamation at $10 each. The fair was a great success, raising over $1,000,000 – nearly $20,000,000 when adjusted for inflation.
The image is mounted to a plain card with only very light wear at the upper left corner. Image is crisp and undamaged, while card is clean. The reverse is blank with 2 miniscule spots of foxing.
A scarce link to one of the most benevolent occasions of the Civil War. [cm][ph:L]
