CDV is a vignette bust view of a young man approx. 20 or so years old. Only the top two buttons of his jacket can be seen but from the collar and large brass buttons it appears that he is wearing a shell jacket or frockcoat. Beneath the coat is a vest with buttons that are a bit odd. They look like large copper rivets in that they are flat with a small dome at center. They are very utilitarian in appearance. Also visible is the subject’s white shirt and dark bowtie.
Contrast and clarity are good. The mount is marked at bottom left with “REES & BROS.” Paper and mount have very minor surface dirt.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint that reads C. H. REES & BRO… RICHMOND, VA.
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [AD] [PH:L]
