Waist-up seated view of a young unidentified soldier wearing a dark four-button sack coat and light trousers. He is posed holding his musket, barrel forward, by his side and wearing a Pattern 1858 canteen with linen sling. Tucked in his belt is a small side knife and balanced on his knee is a dark forage cap. Unfortunately, his belt plate is not visible.
Clarity is good but the contrast is dark.
Image is housed in a split leather case with a stamped brass frame but no mat.
From the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad][ph:L]
