Image is a half-plate tintype of a young woman wearing a dark colored dress with a small white lace collar. She has a dark bow in her hair and a brooch at her throat.

The image is clear but the contrast could be a bit lighter. There are two very minor, shallow creases near the upper edge of the image which are only noticeable if held at a certain angle. Overall it is a nice photo.

Brass oval mat is plain but for a delicate line decoration around the edges of the oval. Stamped brass frame has a scrollwork decoration. Mat has some light surface dirt while the frame also shows some grime and dirt from age.

Interior pillow is missing from the case exposing a newspaper lined interior. The newspaper is from England and displays an ad from 1804.

The front panel of the Union case has a fantastic raised decoration of a country house on a knoll with hayfields being harvested in the foreground. A hay wagon with horses and works are seen while a child runs playing in the fields. Outbuildings can be seen around the house with trees in the foreground and distance. A church steeple can be discerned in the right far distance among some trees.

Reverse panel of the case has an oval geometric pattern.

The case is free of chips or cracks and is in clean condition.  [AD] [ph:L]
