There is a period song that says “If you wanna have a good time join the cavalry!” Well, here is one old gent who seems to have taken the song literally and joined the cavalry.
Image is a three-quarter seated view of a gray-haired older man wearing a dark forage cap with a partially turned up bill, cavalry shell jacket with piping and brass shoulder scales and light trousers. He also wears his sword belt with the rectangular pattern 1851 plate with holster and cavalry saber attached. He is posed cross-legged and holding his saber in his lap. The photographer has lightly tinted all buttons, piping, shoulder scales and the belt plate.
Contrast and clarity are very good.
Image comes in a full case with repaired hinge, decorative brass mat and a partial, dirty, stamped brass frame. [ad][ph:L]
