Offered here is a 1/4 plate tintype image of armed Union soldier in full case.
Image is of a standing Union soldier posing before a photographer’s painted canvas backdrop. Soldier wears regulation 4-button sack coat, accoutrements, and is holding a musket with bayonet. He wears a regulation forage cap.
Trousers are tinted blue and brass highlighted in gilt.
Image is slightly dark but details remain visible. Case consists of two mismatched halves that were put together. Hinge was repaired with old cloth tape. [jet][ph:L]
