This dual image features Qui-wi-sain shisk, or “Bad Boy”, a one-time chief of the Chippewa Tribe of the Gulf Lake Region of Michigan. He is wrapped in a trade-style blanket and is holding a double-barreled long gun. The printed photo is mounted to a pale-yellow card, which shows very minor edge wear for its age. A light water stain is noted at the top left and center of the card and image.
Text on either side of the front reads “CHARLES A ZIMMERMAN, PHOTOGRAPHER/THIRD STREET, ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA”. The title reads “Qui-wi-sain shisk/[Bad Boy.]/Chief of Gull Lake Chippewas.” A small, penned number “112” sits below the center dividing line, to the right of the title. The reverse is a peach tone with a very minor and small water stain along the top edge. The rest is clean, and the edges are sharp. Written in pencil are “1110” and “5-4-45”. Overall measurements are 3.4” x 6.9”.
A very interesting and rare stereoview card. Perfect for the general collector or those with an interest in the history of the American West.
