Confederate 12-pounder spherical case shot for smoothbore cannons. This shell is complete with an iron side loader plug that has two small holes to accept a spanner wrench. The typical Confederate brass fuse adapter has been replaced by a large iron eyelet cemented into the fuse hole. Iron surface is clean and has light pitting. Recovered near Winchester, VA.
