This is an excavated .44 caliber two cavity bullet mold for “Army” revolvers. The mold halves are iron with a steel sprue cutter, screw, and pins. The mold is approximately 5” in overall length.
The mold is a relic and is in “dug” condition. However, it still opens. There are two cavities; one for round ball and one for the “new-model” Colt elongated bullet. The sprue cutter has one small piece broken off.
Recovered from a New York cavalry camp site near Fredericksburg, Virginia.
