This early piece of US military history is in dug condition and measures .75” in diameter. It features a prominent “2” in the center – denoting the 2nd United States Infantry Regiment, and the words “UNITED STATES” around the border of the disk.
The edges are worn but mostly complete, with some minor lettering loss, while the reverse appears to retain the original loop with original soldering.
Obviously period-used, this uncommonly found, unit-specific small button would be a welcome addition to any US militaria collection. [cm][ph:L]
