This excavated plate has a brass face with beautiful smooth dark brown patina. The detail on the eagle is good. The reverse has all of the lead fill. Both iron hooks remain and are strong.
Label on back states, “4-12-86 Fairfax Relic Show. Dug near Culpeper Va. Catlett Brothers”.
A very nice “dug” breast plate. [jet] [ph:L]
