Title page reads “THE HISTORY OF THE TENTH MASSACHUSETTS BATTERY OF LIGHT ARTILLERY IN THE WAR OF THE REBELLION, FORMERLY OF THE THIRD CORPS, AND AFTERWARDS OF HANCOCK’S SECOND CORPS, ARMY OF THE POTOMAC 1862-1865” by John D. Billings who was a member of the battery and author of the classic work “HARDTACK & COFFEE.” Published by Butternut and Blue of Baltimore, Maryland in the 1990’s.

Hardcover is nicely bound in red cloth with the title and an artillery piece in gold on the front cover with the title and author also in gold on the spine. Covers are excellent. Illustrated dustjacket mirrors the cover and is in excellent condition and wrapped in Mylar.

Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 496 pages with roster and index. There are numerous black & white photographs, drawings and maps.

Binding is excellent and the interior is super clean. A “like new” copy.

The 10th Massachusetts Battery was organized on September 9, 1862 and were assigned to Washington and the Middle Department until June 1863 when it joined the Army of the Potomac. The battery was present for Auburn, Po River, Spotsylvania, Jones Farm, Reams’ Station and Hatcher’s Run.   [AD] [PH:L]
