The full title of this volume is “HISTORY OF THE NINTH NEW HAMPSIRE VOLUNTEERS IN THE WAR OF THE REBELLION” by Edward O. Lord A.M. and published by The Republic Press Association of Concord, New Hampshire in 1895.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 764 pages with 171 page roster and index. The volume also has numerous portraits and maps.

Greenish-blue cloth boards are in good condition but do show wear such as surface dirt and rubbing. Title is in gold on spine. Interior is very good though the pages have yellowed with age. Binding is excellent.

The 9th New Hampshire Infantry was organized on August 1, 1862. They served mostly in the 9th Corps though they did see some service with the 23rd Corps as well. The regiment saw action at South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Jackson, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Totopotomoy Creek, Petersburg, the Crater and Poplar Springs Church.    [AD] [PH:L]
