The full title of this handsome volume is “SHARPS FIREARMS-THE PERCUSSION ERA 1848-1865 VOLUME 1” by Roy Marcot, Edward W. Marron, Jr. and Ron Paxton with David Carter, Frank Graves, Paul D. Johnson, Richard Labowskie MD, John McAulay, Matt Sears and Dean Thomas and published by Northwood Heritage Press of Tucson, Arizona in 2019.

Volume is a leather bound hardcover with the title in gold foil on the front and spine. Covers are excellent. Top edge of the back cover shows some minor paper residue from being slid in and out of the slipcase but this can be easily removed.

Interior is super clean with a special page signed by the three principal authors. Book meas. 12.00 x 10.00 inches with gilt edged pages and coated paper and runs 439 pages with index.

With the book is a personal note to Dean Thomas by Roy Marcot and an unused bookplate stating that this is the 19^th copy of 75 printed.

Slipcase has the same cover material as the book with a full color applied print of Prang’s PICKETT’S CHARGE AT GETTYSBURG with a Model ’59 and a ’63 Sharps carbine superimposed over the photo. Case shows very minor signs of wear.

The late Dean S. Thomas was known as a onetime Gettysburg Battlefield Guide and early relic hunter as well as the founder, owner, and operator of Thomas Publications. He was also the leading authority on Civil War ammunition and projectiles.    [ad] [ph:L]
